Varsity Lacrosse – McCallie Scrimmage Jamboree 2/27

The Brentwood lacrosse team traveled to Chattanooga on Saturday to play four scrimmage games against two teams from Louisville, KY, Farragut HS from Knoxville and host,  McCallie. The format for the day was a 30 minute running clock for each game, which is equivalent to about a half of a regular game. Brentwood went 3 -1 on the day, dropping their only game to 2009 State Champion McCallie.

Brentwood 6, Louisville Collegiate 1

Brentwood 4, Farragut 0

Brentwood 6, Trinity HS (Louisville) 4

Brentwood 1, McCallie 4

Lacrosse is a fast paced, high scoring game, but Brentwood is establishing itself as a team that will be stinging with giving up goals. The Brentwood defense once again was impressive all day as they held their four opponents to a total of just 9 goals while the offense was scoring 17. When the defensive unit allowed shots, goalie Preston Stapp stopped most of them, as he played extremely well all day between the pipes.

The offense played well and saw 7 different players contribute with points on the day. Coach Catterton used the games to work on offensive and defensive formations, using players at different positions and working on team defense and the transition game. The team is off to a good start and Catterton has an experienced roster to work with. All the players currently on the Varsity team have come up through the middle school program and have several years’ experience that they bring to the field.
