Brentwood vs. Christian Brothers (Memphis)

Brentwood entered its fourth game, and first real test of the season against western conference foe, the Christian Brothers Purple Wave. Brentwood plays in the western side of division I with Memphis University School, Christian Brothers, Houston High School and Franklin. This was a big game for the Bruins because it sets the stage for the rest of the divisional games.

Brentwood did not disappoint the crowd as they hung on to an 8-7 win on a cold and damp Sunday afternoon. It was a back and forth nail biter as both teams held the lead at various times throughout the first 3 quarters of the game. Brentwood jumped out to the lead and was up 3-2 after the first quarter seemingly in control, but the Purple Wave broke hard against the Bruins in the second quarter and Brentwood found themselves behind 7-5 at halftime.

The second half was all Brentwood, however as they outscored CBHS 3-0 in the third quarter and held on for the win. The Bruin defense played very solid once again and totally shut the Purple Wave down in the second half. Preston Stapp capped off the game by making a save with one second on the game clock. The Brentwood goal tender had 15 saves for the game.

Brentwood has seen many players contributing offensively in each game, and today was no different as 8 players contributed points. The offense today was led by senior captain Ben Tarpley with 3 goals and 1 assist. Others contributing points were; Wyatt, Rittler, Alter each with 1 goal, 1 assist, Gill with 2 assists, Manning and Raffanti with a goal each and Springer with an assist.  Defensively, it was Colin Hart, Jacob Fredi and Carson Mayhall that put a stop to the Christian Brothers offensive attack, with Stapp keeping most of their shots out of the goal.

Brentwood is now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Next game in Saturday at Crockett Park vs. Farragut from Knoxville, 6:00PM
