Brentwood vs. Father Ryan Irish  4/15/10

The Bruins took their 8 and 2 record on the road to visit Father Ryan and play on their brand new turf field.  Father Ryan has had some success since moving to Division II a couple of years ago as they faced Brentwood in the DII final in 2008 when the Bruins won the state championship.

The Bruins would easily cruise by the Irish on this night as they walked off the new turf after an 11-2 win. Brentwood got the scoring started early and led 5-0 at the end of the first quarter and 7-1 at halftime. The Irish managed a goal in the third, but never challenged the Bruins. Brentwood’s offense dominated the time of possession and launched 50 shots at the Irish goaltender. Father Ryan was only able to manage 14 total shots in the game.

The Bruins’ goalies, Preston Stapp and Ross English combined for 9 saves in the win. Defenseman Colin Hart picked up 7 loose balls to reach 100 for the season, and Carson Mayhall picked up 6 loose balls. The defensive unit continues to play well and hold opposing teams to infrequent scoring chances and few overall goals.

The offensive production was led by senior midfielder Richard Alter who scored 4 times and added an assist. Attackman Ben Tarpley also had 4 goals.  Sam Wyatt continued his production with 2 goals and 2 assists, and with Patrick Gill being sidelined, Garrett Hargis chipped in with 3 assists. The remaining points were contributed by Herline, 1 goal, Springer and Mayhall each with an assist.

The Bruins have 3 games remaining with the next game at USNs River Campus on Tuesday 4/20 at 5:30.
